Hi How many to you need on the t-rods and claws?? I have some..Also any photo of the mount or claws i have alot of vintage 60s japan made drum parts but i know the pearl used many types of claws and t-rods ,mounts...mikey

I need 8 claws and 8 t-rods. The cymbal mount is diamond shaped. It is 3 inches long and 2 inches wide. The mounting screw holes drilled into the bass drum are 2 inches apart. I will send pics later today. Thank you for your response...

Not to say anything negative, but from the catalogs- the President series was introduced in 1969. I love President kits and there is a jazz club with a perfect 1974 4-piece I love to play. I have a President 1975 24x14 bassdrum myself. Am always looking for the right President kit to buy. Good luck in you search for hardware. I think the t-rods were pretty common Pearl stock of the day but it`s the lugs that were unique- only the President line got those thin, streamlined lugs- it`s an easy ID point.

I have PDFs of the 1966, 1968,1969 catalogs if you need.

Thanks for the comment... The President Series was introduced in 1966... see Pearl History on their official site... Also, I have provenance on this particular set as it was my cousin who purchased them in Japan after having served in Vietnam from '65 to '66...

The President is not listed at all in the 1968 catalog- the highest end model is the "Super Deluxe" with wood shells.

Fiberglass shells- The President line, from all the data I have did actually begin in 1969.

Could you post a picture of the President badge and I `d love to see the kit - could you post a photo on here. The tom mount design and the badge will tell all, also if the interiors are fiberglass or not. All Presidents were fiberglass shells.

I`m not trying to argue with you about it but if I understand you correctly- you have a Fiberglass shelled President series drumset with badges that say President that you know was purchased in Japan in 1966. I collect and study Pearl drums and live here- so I get to see and play alot of the old kits- I really want to see a photo for my own education. Thank you for posting!

I checked the Pearl history page and they do say that the President series was introduced in 66. However it looks exactly as what they have listed as a Super Deluxe in the 1968 catalog

Also it seems to just have the simple PEARL metal badges (love them) instead of the President badges that seemed to begin in 1969. I wonder if I am understanding Presidents to have begun with Fiberglass shelled Presidents in 1969 and yet the name was given to wood shelled drums prior...

It is confusing... I have the simple badge... I'm pretty sure the wood shells are mahagony... Plus, I also have the original stands, seat, kick pedal... but actually use mapex hardware when playing... I'll try to post pics in the near future...

I have Remo Fiberskins on the toms, Evans "Etched" batter on the snare (I do a lot of brush work with Regal Tip fixed brushes)- Remo 1 ply Renaissance Ambassador on the bottom of the snare; and a 2 ply Evans Black Hydrolic batter head on the kick for that dry sound...

Hey thanks alot- I love 1960s era Pearl drums- I think they were such amazing copiers of the classics- Rogers and Ludwig in particular. We can often get them at a steal and I dig the wraps alot too. I have been studying the various models and history really carefully so learning about this 1966 thing is very interesting.

The heads on this 14x24 President are a coated Amby on the front - no vent and a Remo SilverDot clear on the batter. I often use either Remo FIberskyn 3s or Remo Coated Emperors on batters for any snare or tom drum. All my other bass drums now have Evans Emad 2 or EQ3 bass drum heads- I think especially for these Japanese 14x20- an EMAD 2 brings out the best in them.

I checked and the 1968 Catalog and that 66/67 Catalog don`t even have the word President in the book even one time. From 1969-1975 the President is featured front and center in each. Curious.

All that said - if you do have any brand 1966 Pearl set - original owner then you are really fortunate and congrats- I am sure it`s awesome.

Hey, thanks for all the help...! I really appreciate it... That mid-60's period for Pearl is very interesting and energetic... The company was really trying to come into its own and I personally love the sound I get out of this old set... I play blues, jazz, rockabilly and old-school country... The new sets don't have the same sound. Perhaps they sound "better' but they certainly don't sound the same as the sets Sam Carr or D.J. Fontana were playing in their heyday...

(I get tired of hearing Yamahas on every single recording in the last twenty years...)... Anyway>>>
