Help to identify vintage Pearl 5 kit set

Hello, I own vintage Pearl 5 kit set of about early 80-s!

Please, help to identify year of production, model and kind of shell.

There is "Taiwan" marking on hoops.

Pearl Exports, early 80s, 9 ply mahogany lauan bass and 6 ply tom shells with PVC wrap. budget line of drums. You can tell by the chrome bass drum hoops. that signifies the budget drums of the day.

Actually in the 70s all Pearl bass hoops were metal. The shell material definitely looks like Export series. The t's and claws are lower-end as well. I thought Pearl put badges on their drums indicating Export series? The wrap is the maroon wrap often found on the entry line drums, too.

I'm enquiring about a smiliar kit. Would the early Exports have 10 lug bass drum though? Trying to identify this kit below. Just has Pearl decal on the shells.

Maybe those sets are the year before "Exports" became "Exports". My early Export bass drum is 8-lug but otherwise the same. My friend has a first-year Export and the drums are standard dimension aka 8x12,9x13 etc. All with gray spatter paint interiors.

I think you are correct...teverson-sr

I had set "badged Exports" purchased new in "85... they looked exactly like these except for the badge... were even the same colour wrap..

Cheers

Hello, I had one of the early Exports in the UK back in around 1982, bought it from Kingfisher Music in Fleet, Hants. Mine had simple "Pearl" badges but were shallower toms, and my BD definitely had 10 logs. Metal hoops with inlay. It was black. Lovely kit and served me well. I still come back to Pearl all these years later. I've owned loads of Pearl kits, currently I have a 20, 14, 12 Maple shell kit in Satin Silver, with a 14x6 maple 10 lug snare (Gladstone throw off). Snare is black unfortunately but ears cannot tell the differences in colour :) Doug
