Welcome to the Old Lady Club! :pJohn

Dude already cleaned parts about a week ago. That's precisely one reason why there's an Old Lady's Club to begin with; or to end with. Let's settle on end with.

A full photo of the kit is all I have left to do. Included will be a bio of the last owner. Will post in gallery for all to see.

Don't worry no steel wool touched the kit. The legs of the hi-hat stand and the snare were the only things showing any rust and I tried the wd40 and aluminum foil trick and it worked on removing the rust without leaving any scratches that were noticeable.

I did notice that the base of the snare stand is original but someone had replaced the upper section of the stand where it cradles the drum with a newer piece. So that is too bad. Hi-hat is all original. BD pedal is original. floor tom is original.

Cymbals are not original, but are 20" type 1 trans stamp Avedis late 40s, 18" Avedis type 2 stamp, late 50s, Hi-hat made up of one 15" Avedis type 1 late 40s and one K stamp from same time period. The K one is interesting and I posted on the cymbal forum about it (last week) with pics if you are interested.

Looking forward to seeing more pics and getting more history of the kit. Thanks your efforts and for sharing.

Play the real kit.Just the fact that you've taken the time to detail it (hopefully properly; could have left that to the new owner) shows that you care about it. That 1st photo with the music laid out shows you're trying to learn the basics - more than most take the time to do.How many were discouraged from continuing to play by a crappy drum/kit? You're lucky enough to have found a great kit to begin with. Unless you're playing along to Megadeath you're 500% fine. Heads are meant to be replaced. Absurd you've been listening to these old ladies telling you what you shouldn't be doing with this kit. Remove/replace ALL batter-side heads (the ones you're hitting), save them, and practice away.Kit looks stunning, by the way.

Skins, This is bad advice.

I really am having a hard time making sense of the stamping but I think you have kit 30, it`s in the toms. What else was gonna say, oh did you get the sizes ? Of all the kits out there, you got the BD head. You got the skins. I think the snare is supposed to be white interior. 20 grand is way low to ask for the only one. I wasn't kidding when I said a hundred grand. If it drops to 80, so what.....

Most of the time the BD head gets swapped out because the one with the original buyers initials don`t fit the new owner. All one has to do is put a black dot with their initials on it, But if you`re Earth,Wind and Fire, that don`t work. That`s the first one I have seen.

None of these are yours. and, None of these are family. This is what you`ll see out there at 20 and 37 thousand dollars. They all got markings like yours. different badges, hoops, and whatever. I don't see nothing but a kit that came as is with yours. All there, including BD head. Well, what`d you say you need a 41 snare stand top piece ? You wont have trouble finding that.

I am new to the vintage drum scene, where would you suggest I start searching for an old snare drum stand?

I know some people have the same swing sensation drums, just not the same wrap. So they might have a stand they would sell.
