That time frame would match with that badge. He might have one from among the very last SS snares made.
Unless they dropped it due to some tooling issue one would assume it hadn't been selling too well of late if they dropped it so there might have been very few made with that particular badge. Doesn't necessarily make it worth more but still kind of a cool thing.

They dropped the SS in 2015. The existing tooling had worn out and needed to be replaced, but since there was low demand, Ludwig didn't deem it worthy to spend the investment to make new tooling. Sad.
