Awesome deal ! I would strip the paint off that drum and badge, and bring it to

it's original glory. A nice lacquer finish, stain, but i wouldn't do a wrap.

Cheers,

Rob

Looks like it’s missing the strainer ? No idea what to put into a search to try and find it ? Year ? Model ?

It`s WFL so it`ll be a short search.

This is a 52 WFL Legionnaire a lot like yours. They ran from late 40`s to early 50`s. You can bring that one to this condition.

The badge appears to be a Ludwig 60's keystone badge. Looks like single tension parade style snare. It would have been equipped with a P83 strainer most likely. Ludwig was known for using up all their old inventory of the building drums. Many 60's drums still used WFL parts. Would be nice to bring this one bag to life.

It would make a nice tom tom for a rustic Levon Helm type drum set.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I don`t think the P-83 is on this drum,..they called it a spread strainer and it has no throw lever. Those and the twin spread strainer is all I can see on them, 30`s til 50`s. Looks like the drilling is too long for an 83.

But I`m not a WFL/Ludwig guy so,...

My grandfather played in marching bands his whole life. Many of his marching snares had no throwoff-style strainer. Just a tightening knob, no throw arm. But the same frame as one with a throw. Early drums had single strand snare wires threaded through the holes in whichever style mechanism was on it.
