I have this 4x14 single tension Jasper snare. I have since replaced the lugs for increased tuning flexibility and, aside from the bottom hoop, I have all the original hardware. The strainer and butt were replaced with more reliable Yamaha parts. I was actually able to track with this snare on a Nashville session when we lived there.

I also have some (somewhat) matching toms, one with single tension lugs, the others with the Rogers lugs. The floor toms have straight Ludwig legs. I'm thinking about selling these as orphans, and maybe converting the 9x13 into an auxiliary snare drum.

My 1968 W&A 20,12,14,14 kit in Oyster Black. Very interesting kit, but I've never seen a Walberg set that wasn't!!

I take it that these are quality drums? Excuse my ignorance, but I've only come across this brand via the forum... There's one for sale here in the U.K. for £350 (looks in great shape, from a very reputable dealer) - from my quick research it looks like a 1950's, maybe 2 ply? Approx $500 - is this a good price?

Peoniam, They are very high quality drums and are worth what you want to pay for them.

All I know is you probably won't find another like it because they seem to use what ever they had at the time to make the drum. They were the major supplier of hardware to most of the big drum companies and everyone seems to be different and definitely not mass produced.

I have a few also but haven't gotten any pictures yet but have a couple of unique sets.

I do have some pictures of newer 2016 snare that I just picked up.

A beauty and unbelievable sounding.

That is one beautiful looking snare Wayne... Would love to hear that.

Really intriguing drum company. They appear to have a very important part of the modern day drum kit story, having been so innovative with their hardware. One that I definitely wasn’t aware of... Thanks all for bringing them to my attention! It seems to be agreed by all that these are top notch drums. I’m really tempted to check out the one for sale on this side of the pond.

Is there consistency with the number of plys in the shells by era, or were these made up from whatever shell was available?

Not sure of the plys but they usually were known to use Jasper / Gretsch shells.

Which for that era the drum was made probably 3-ply.

They did use their own shells also so not a given , could be single ply.

Maybe can ask the seller.

Sweet kit. 16 deep floor tom, correct? That seems to have been a specialty of W&A in that era.

Here is one for you.

The Revival kit #1-5 natural satin and gold.

They were known for the 16 x 14 floor and the double hoop inlays on some kits.

I am thinking 60’s when RGB started making them and clear interior but have to look further into that.

This is the first kit made by Rob Kampa at the New W & A.

6-20-14 and 6-21-14. Build date.

Another one I just picked up.

I believe maybe 1959 OBP.

Came with bongos to boot.

Snare has special ordered Radio King strainer by original owner.
