WFL Twin Spring Speed King pedal

It appears that this pedal is all original and correct. Can someone confirm or explain what may not be right? Is the beater original and if not, what maker? Also, what price should one expect to pay for this piece?

Thanks for sharing any information!

The pedal is from the late 20's to into the 30's.The beater is right. You see another hole nest to the beater it could be used for another beater-{ i seen that}- but i say the other hole is for a stricker for a hoop mounted cymbal...Mikey

That makes sense. I appreciate the info. Any idea of what it's worth?

I was shocked at how smooth the pedal operates and how solid it is...no side-to-side play. My Slingerland AA is smooth, but moves from side-to-side an inch or more in either direction.

Hi, that is an early model spped king from around 1938 until production was stopped for the war. After the war the footboard was changed. The current footboard design started around 1950. Nice find!

That is probably a late 30's pedal. WFL started making drums in 1937 and production on this pedal was halted when the war started(as was mentioned previously). After the war though WFL started up again making zephyr lugs and regular sets again but it was within a years time that WFL senior designed the classic lug and shortly after the next speed king design that also included the hi-hat. I would guess 1947-48 is when the next design came out. I think that beater is original. I have one like it with lambs wool.

It's hard to put a value on them though as it's not something I would most likely bring to a gig. Maybe 75-100 bucks?
