Corder COW snare

Loading...

Just got a Corder snare that arrived from Ebay today.

Was going at a bargain price because the snare tension knob was stuck in the snare attachment plate due to cross threading.

A few minutes with channel lock pliers and a vice and voila,no more stuck.

Probably needs to be rethreaded and tapped ,but the hardware is immaculate.

No rust ,dents or pitting on any of the chrome.

Will post pic's and vid when ready.

Excellent snare drum! I had a very similar drum from another company. I believe Corder may have been using Jasper shells at the time, but other more knowledgeable members may know for sure. I believe that Tommyp has one of these drums. He'll probably chime in!

I found the completed auction on eBay. Wow, you really snagged it for a good price!

I was a Corder endorser back in the 80's and yes,he used Jasper shells for his drums.

I have one that's a bit beat up cosmetically, but sonically sounds as good as any snare I've ever played.

I saw an article where the first custom snares Johnny Cravioto built were sourced using Corder/Jasper shells.

I have one of those snares.. I wrapped it in green sparkle to match the kit i put together. I scored the drum from this forum. (Mariosdrums hooked me up)

I didn’t like the sft strainer for the style of music I play so I traded tommyp my sft for an inde throwoff and I like it a lot.

Nice snare !

Just out of curiosity, when you removed the old wrap ,was it glued the entire shell length or just in strategic places?

As for your set ,folks don't get how great those drums truly are.

We're talking Gretsch USA custom sound at a fraction of the cost.

Actually I wrapped over top of a lacquered finish that was in poor shape. I don’t know if they used an undersized shell for wrapped Drums or not.. I wonder if my overall outside diameter is larger than it should be

... and they do have the gretsch vibe.. but a little more open due to the flanged hoops rather than Diecast, which in my opinion dry out a Drums resonance
