Vintage/older sabian model help !

So in my search to find great sounding, versatile, used cymbals that i can leave at one of the pubs i gig at, i found this little guy, advertised as a "chinese" cymbal in one of my local pawn shops. I don't know too much about Sabian (i use Paiste) but the cymbal looks like an older/vintage HH 18" crash cymbal, but because the ink has faded, i can't tell if it's a medium thin, dark, thin, dark thin, etc. I have used Sabian in the past, and think they sound great. Now my questions for you Sabian guys are-- how old is this cymbal ? How many models/types of crashes in this line existed at that time ? I just checked on Youtube for some demos, and found a few modern, and some older ones, but i did not take a listen to the "Remastered" versions that came out a few years back, as i'm sure they won't sound the same. I love the dark, smokiness of these cymbals, and i think it would be a great cymbal to use for some cover gigs. Also, if it does end up being an HH crash, i may put an offer in for $90 and would like to know if you guys think it's fair ?

Any info is greatly appreciated !

Cheers,

Rob

$90 would be a Deal for a Sabian I’d say. 18” Zildjian would be around $180. Double that for an EAK. Same family and alloy.

Cobalt Blue Yamaha Recording Custom 20b-22b-8-10-12-13-15-16f-18f
Red Ripple '70's Yamaha D-20 20b-12-14f
Piano Black Yamaha Recording Custom Be-Bop kit 18b-10-14f
Snares:
Yamaha COS SDM5; Yamaha Cobalt Blue RC 5-1/2x14; Gretsch round badge WMP; 1972 Ludwig Acrolite; 1978 Ludwig Super Sensitive; Cobalt Blue one-off Montineri; Yamaha Musashi 6.5X13 Oak; cheap 3.5X13 brass piccolo

No idea. My first cymbal was a Zildjian and my last one probably will be too.

Hey funkypoodle- What makes you think that it's a heavy cymbal ? I did a bit more research on the HH line from that time and you're right that it looks like it's a 90's cymbal, but during that time they made dark, medium, and medium thin weights. So even if it is a medium, which i assume would be the heaviest, that would still be ok, as i'd be using it for a ride/crash..

cheers,

Rob

Really hard to tell from a pic...my speculation was based around how the edge of the cymbal looks against the table, but it's just speculation. The hammering looks gorgeous on this one btw!
