If it were literally hot-off-the-factory floor like new then that would be top price - on ebay; not CL. That ain't like new. He is open to offers, so what's the crime. I sold one in HOTFF condish in '14 above what this unfortunate soul is asking.

In how many ways is today unlike '14? Way too many! You'd think with all the Viagra/testosterone flowing on Wall St. the fake trickle-down effect would mean a feast on all our vintage gear. I ain't feeling the vibe.

You're all crying foul on a CL listing when there's far worse on ebay and Reverb ... and here in the FS section.

We all know he ain't going to get that. So it looks like it'll be back to the pound for that puppy.

Hey Chris so this seller wants a total of $480.00 for a 60's acros and a Ufo case, which isn't even the correct case for this era drum. I'm looking forward too his reasonable offer price for, away over priced drum + case.!?

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Hey V!

Not sure I understand the above (no offense; I often miss the point). But - we are all in agreement that $480 isn't happening with or without the burnt marshmallow case. Neither $400, nor $300.

One thing he's correct about is that it's a keeper.

Figures the crazy prices near Asheville. Lived there about a year and hated it. Germany was much nicer although the Triad and Outer Banks of NC are nice.

We give them a inch that take a yard

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

The insanity of these Acrolite prices is all thanks to the reissues that Ludwig has released, at the insane price of $400+tx brand new. I got mine with the original UFO case for $100 CDN, which was a decent deal. We all know that Ludwig sold and classified this snare drum as a beginner snare, but studio engineers and thousands of drummers will say otherwise. I actually prefer it to my Supraphonic, but that's just me. Every other drum company has tried to duplicate or build their own version of the famous aluminum beaded shell, and they sell theirs at ridiculous prices. Tama, Yamaha, DW, Pearl, all have their version of the Acrolite, and even though they're built like tanks with sturdy, beefy hardware, i find that even these modern aluminum shells costing as much as a used intermediate/semi pro kit, is just insanity. This guy will not get his asking price of $400.

I personally wouldn't pay more than $150 CDN for a 60's acrolite, and that's the maximum i'd pay simply because they're just slightly more scarce than their 70's/80's counterparts.

Check out what this modern acrolite is currently going for at Sweetwater. LoLoLoLo

Why would anyone want to pay that much when you could get an original for 3x less ???

This thread is much ado about nothing.

The anger at the CL post, NC, and the table-pounding about I-paid-this-so-no-way-is-that-rediculous-price-that-dumba$$'$-asking ... get a rope! mentality : kinda weird.

A 60's acro vs. a new one? Easy : the '60's acro. Apparently a lot of drummers like the acro. And some will pay for a very nice original for their collection. In other words, they are collectors.

There's that other breed : "The Player." And another : looking for the steal.

Thank heavens that seller hasn't popped his head up here. He'd be taking a cold bath with piraƱhas.
