Duco Orphan Project

Loading...

haven't posted in a while, figured I would share this fun orphan kit I'm putting together. Ended up with the snare and Bass drum last year, and picked the tom up a couple weeks ago.

Floor tom as of probably tomorrow is going to be that old CB700 shell you see in the background with a bum-wrap blue/grey duco, but if my band continues to book gigs semi-regularly, it wouldn't be too big an expense (though it might take a long time) to find a Slingerland or Ludwig floor tom or field drum that matches(ish).

It's a 1962 (Niles without serial badge, and a date stamp) Slingerland Bass

a 1968ish Based on Serial Slingerland student (with single flanged hoops and clips) snare

Rogers Luxor (probably from 1966 is my understanding) 8x12 single headed tom.

Nice little kit you have there! Great use of orphan drums, they look good together!

Thank you!

The term orphan is such a sad one...I'd like to think of them like cousins at a family reunion.

Stop stringing and tuning your instrument, make music now.

I view it as the orphans having overcome adversity and found their permanent home and family!

Maryland post offices are apparently pretty wonky these days.

Tracking on that wrap for the FT . . . hasn't exactly made sense.

Whatever - not Bum's fault.

That rogers concert tom has a really nice sound. the bottom bearing edge is in surprsingly nice shape if I ever decide to put lugs and a bottom head on.
