From Dan Boucher

Priceless story. That is an amazing Ludwig kit TheElectricCompany, but the price is stratospheric! Also, as someone pointed out, I'd be very challenged to reach up to that mounted tom! I admire you big guys being able to handle those Bonham drums. I'd be lost behind a set that big.

It's waaaaay up there, but I'm guessing they're willing to wait on the right buyer rather than price it to move. There's a guy on Facebook who's told the seller he wants to buy it, but we all know there's a million guys who will respond with "Very interested, please send shipping quote," and then you never hear from them again. We'll know if it gets snatched up in a day or two.

Not anti-per se. AC/DC on that color. I liked it a lot when I saw 60's catalogs with Downbeat and Progressive Jazz sets in that color, though never really warmed up to the Roy Burns Rogers kit. I have two pieces looking for number 3, but may simply sell the two in that it is not a priority color. I'm more into onyx, maybe a strata would be good and red, blue or even silver sparkle.

I think Champagne Sparkle is one of if not the classiest wraps out there. The older original wraps with the real silver and copper specks. I was fortunate to find a 1968 Keystone set a few years ago with two 9"x13" toms, 14"x14" and 16"x18" floor toms, 5 1/2"x14" jazz festival snare, and 14"x24" virgin bass drum. I would love to find a 22" or 20" bass drum as the 24" is some times a little large to haul around and some venues stage are not large enough to accommodate larger sets. I will eventually sell this set in the next few years as I am getting older and starting to downsize. Here is a pic from the last time I performed on them minus the 14"x14".

There have been many rock drummers who have played Champagne Sparkle drums. I remember one famous performance at the original Woodstock.

You know, I can recall the first time I saw your champagne kit as it was only within last year or so. I was just going through a Google image search of champagne kits trying to find anything unique and I came across a link to your kit on DFO. It's beautiful. I still get a kick out of the curved spurs on a Keystone drum, and being a virgin just pushes it over the top. It's a very unique drum. Add in the 14x14 and 5 1/2 Jazzfest... wow!

Did you find the kit online or happen to come across it in person?

At 26" I'll get no kick in champagne (or any other color, I take mine 20" thanks).
