I got this shell awhile back and was wondering if anybody knows what it is.
It measures 28" x 10", a thin or Scotch marching bass drum. The shell is covered in silver sparkle wrap, and the whole thing looks real tight and solid, a better-than-average made drum to me. The inside has a beautiful coat of clear on it. There's no stamps inside.
It's got fade marks where the two eyelets for the straps were. And in the attached pics the badge/vent hole is oval shaped and the two small screw holes are 2" apart. The lugs aren't rounded like Slingerland - I drew a red line in the last pic to show that. They look more like Ludwig. The lug holes are spaced 1 3/4" apart, measured on centers. The drum is drilled for 12 lugs per head.
The guy I got it from had lots of school drums, mostly Ludwig and Slingerland from the early 60's and a bit older.
It would make a cool kick for some retro project, and it's really light so it would be good to transport.
