Ludwig Juvenile Drum

I almost titled this thread "dating a juvenile." Haha!

Can anyone help me pinpoint a year of manufacture and possible worth on this Juvenile? I've had it in storage and just got it back out this weekend. Original calf skin heads and gut snares, looks to be maple shell and hoops, all strap brackets intact (but no strap), wooden airhole grommet, mint condish. Catalogs seem to have general info with regard to materials and years of manufacture.

Hi,

The first time I see it pop up is 1927. Looks like the rods are upside down on yours when someone put them in, and maybe they redrilled the throw off.

Here is a Leedy student drum from around the same time period that I found in an antique shop. I bring it out for Christmas to use for decorating the tree!

That Leedy looks amazing!! I found mine in an antique shop as well, for $15. Nice little conversation piece :)

I have one and it is almost identical, and yes you are correct, the rods are upside down, or at least to be able to play the drum properly without wracking your knuckles. . . . Mind Blowi

The rods were like that when I bought the drum back in the early 90s. It seems to make sense that the drum would tune from the top, but I guess not! Were you able to pinpoint a date range on your instrument?
