Is this snare made by Ludwig

Loading...

These lugs looks just like Ludwig lugs. I know Conn and Selmer distribute/own Ludwig...so maybe there is a connection there? Any ideas?

Obviously not made by Ludwig in the USA. Whether those lugs are copies of Ludwig's design or the same ones that go on some of Ludwig's imported drums is hard to say. Regardless of any of that this drum is an entry level type model that really bears no tangible relationship to any of Ludwig's made in the USA drums. If it sounds okay and is really cheap it might be worth snagging but, no, it's not a Ludwig.

I didn't have the winning bid but wasn't too worried about it. mlayton: that looks like the exact snare minus the badge!

Stay away from ANY snare that has the "generic five lines".

These are very cheaply made. I don't have anything against cheap drums, in fact I pride myself on getting lower quality drums to sound good. I have never been able to get one of these generic snares to sound good. Ever. And, they are so cheaply made, the shell is almost always out of round. I've come across dozens of these, and I don't think I've ever seen one where the shell wasn't at least slightly warped. Plus, I've never seen any inkling of a snare bed on any of these drums. Even if it only costs $1, stay away, it won't be worth your frustration.

ardrummer,

If you’re looking for a good snare that won’t break the bank, I’d look for an Acrolite. Pretty cheap on eBay and will sound WAY better than any of the cheaper steel snares.
