Many beautiful wraps from the 60' and 70's. Some similar wraps were used both by Rogers, Ludwig and Slingerland. Maybe the WMP was spear headed from Slingerland, as the Blue Oyster was made famous by Ludwig when Ring Star sat on that throne.
In your opinion what would you say is the wrap that most closely identify Rogers?

As to Ludwig, I'm sure you meant Oyster Black and not Oyster Blue! As for Rogers, well that's a tough one! I'm not quite sure if there is one color that identifies Rogers. Perhaps Steel-Gray and Red-Ripple pearl. Slingerland had both blue and red ripple pearls, though. Rogers Onyx pearls were very similar to Slingerland's Agate pearls. Rogers offered Black, Blue and Pink Strata finishes. Similar to Ludwig's Oyster finishes, but did have a different look to them. Let's see what others have to say about this!

Nowhere does this define THE Rogers wrap finish, but the one that comes to mind from 70's Rogers for me, and this may be a nostalgia thing because my brother owned a set when he was about 18, is the Rogers R380 in Red Oyster. Beautiful drums. Ebay currently has one for sale. I believe that these were made by Yamaha at the time ?
In the 1950's and 1960's Rogers drum wraps were mostly the same or similar wraps used by other leading drum makers. Of course, Ludwig's version of WMP was more geometrical than the random patterns that others used. Probably, because my first professional drum set was a brand new 1961 Rogers Holiday outfit, the Black Diamond Pearl of my set has become the definitive Rogers wrap for me. in the 1970's the Sunburst lacquer finish applied to Rogers drum shells by Fender's top guitar painters set new standards for lacquered drum shells throughout the industry.
Scotch Plaid, Pink & Blue Ripple. Spanish Gold, Mohave Red are all colours from the Rogers universe. Even though Onyx and Agathe finishes are alike, to me red or blue Onyx are my favourite Rogers eye candy. I went back into the Slingerland catalogues though & I have to say that their wraps offerings are astounding! Lavender and Tangerine Satin Pearl, Aztec, Sparkling Purple Pearl, Silver Veil, Capri....Their wraps were amazing.

What about if you were 18 years old? Would it be the choice for you at that time?
