I stumbled upon this snare drum and it looked interesting. Does anyone know anything about it?

as it says in the post, it os a Ludwig Universal Snare, 6 Lugs, brass shell from the 1920s. the strainer is attached to the top rim through 2 little screws. i have the same drum, sounds great, even though the strainer looks fragile and only 6 lugs it is a nice drum.

If that has a 2 piece shell, it is priced at about 1/4 of it's value.

Most likely that drum has the thinner shell. Those drums usually sell for $150-200.

Look for the drums of this era with the throw off on the shell. 8 and 10 lug ones kick ass. Most of the 6 lug ones will have the 2 pc. shell (look for the solder on the inside), sell for less and sound great.
