My friend & sometimes bandmate posted this pic, I thought y'all might like to see the Vistalites :)
Vistalites in old pic
Gotta love the 70's....
The drum set that got me started on Vintage drum collecting was a black and white Vistalite set configured like the one in the picture that included a matching snare drum. First of all, I have never liked Ludwig drums. Secondly, I have never had the slightest desire to own any plastic drums. However, a general merchandise resale shop was in the process of setting these up in their window as I passed by the store. I was intrigued about seeing drums for sale in this type of store.
"How much are they"?
"We don't know what to ask for them".
"Here's $300, and I'll take them home".
"OK. We'll help you load them in your car".
After a couple days in my house, I took them to a vintage drum dealer, and traded them for some vintage drums that I liked. I think that I traded for a Slingerland bop set in Champagne Sparkle.
That's how this whole sickness began.
It's missing all the laundry in the bass drum, though...:D
There's a 5pc kit with red, white, blue stripes for sale near me. What's something like that worth?
I once found that exact color and pattern for sale at a local drum shop for $1200 CDN.
No cracks or any typical vistalite damage. I thought it was fair, considering it's something
that doesn't pop up around these parts too often, and the rareness of the pattern !
That color pattern vistalite is my favorite. Yes Sir
