slingerland 1965 9N rewrap or other issues - need experts

Is this legit or what issues to ask. Didn't see matching snare or this wrap. Trying to judge a vintage slingerland kit

- Kit: 1986 Pearl MX-9 Series; Paiste Signature cymbals (original owner mid-90's)
- Roland TD-7 Electronic Drum Set (original owner)
- 1965 Slingerland White Satin Flame 20, 13, 16 w/all original hardware & Zildjian cymbals (2nd owner)

Actively seeking early 70's (or 60's) Slingerland drum sets in very good condition and classic Zildjian cymbals.

Looks legit. White Satin Flame was first offered by Slingerland in '64. Looks to be a Krupa 1N kit. 9N has smaller sizes. Matching snare is present. Hardware looks correct. Cymbals may have been polished, could affect value for some buyers. Check this wrap carefully for cracks, lifting etc. as it is known to be prone to those problems.

Yes, this kit is legit! I saw it when it was first listed and exchanged information with the seller. The 9N was cataloged with an 8x12 rack tom, 14x14 floor tom, 14x20 bass drum and the Sound King COB snare drum. While the 9N was recommended to the seller by Mr. Krupa, the seller decided he wanted a "larger" sounding kit and ordered it with the larger toms and matching Artist snare drum. Not sure why he just didn't order the kit played by Gene, which was the 1N. He informed me he has the original order form, but needs to find it. You can still tell this is a 9N, as there is no shell-mounted cymbal arm. Given the originality of the kit, and the included Zildjian cymbals in great condition, the kit is certainly worth the asking price...IMHO. Still, he does include a Best Offer, too! And, lets not forget the cool letter from Gene Krupa!

Ok this looks like the 9N modern jazz bd ( no cymbal stand on bd)-but the shells are the krupa size 1N. Special order or mixed kit. This is from vintagedrumguide.com, other sources?

1965

Krupa 1N 20 bd, 13, 16 toms

Mod jazz 9N 20 bd 12, 14 toms

What am I missing?

A Krupa 1N with bass cymbal mount deleted, a 9N with larger toms and artist snare added or all custom ordered either way it is still legit. Seller claims to have original invoice so all should be answered. Good eye on the missing cymbal mount Mark.

Ha! That makes 2 of us Mark! I complimented him on this beautiful set & said it would be sold if I lived within 5 hours of him. Nice guy too.

Someone is going to get a really cool kit.

Same here, Mark! Even though I DON'T need another kit, this one is just too nice to pass up.

Rarely do you see Satin Flame wraps in such good condition!

Something else that just occurred to me, is that this could also easily be the 4N kit, which was cataloged with an 8x12. Some catalogs said you could substitute a 9x13 for no additional charge! Here's a 4N I had some years ago, with the 9x13. The kit looked like the cataloged version!

Seller posted original order form. Not ordered as a kit, simply individual drums and hardware. Leedybdp will be extremely happy. Interesting 4 month lead time between order date and ship date.
