I recently stumbled across a listing of a Rogers Dyansonic wooden snare, for a whopping €250. I did a quick search and for the most part they usually go for over the $1000 mark in the states. Now this listing is in Germany. Even though the markets are slightly different all sorts of alarms went off in my head. I asked the seller for picture of the inside of the drum. No response but he did update the listing and added more pictures and the price went up to €350. I count 5 plies in the re-ring which is a good thing, or so I've read. What do you guys think about this snare? The link is down below.
Rogers Dynasonic wood snare drum
Is that a starting Bid? If not, then looks even better.
The price on these things is probably going to drop as Dixon ,who bought the rights to the Rogers brand name,is going to start shipping wood Dynasonics later on this month for about $800 bucks US.
Seems like the price is not set on stone, he's open to suggestions. But if this a fake is it worth it?
Besides missing the tone control and the snare gate mounted upside down, it looks really good and legit. I'd be curious as to the price of the winning bid. Here's the seller's description:

[SIZE="1"]Ladies and gentlemen,
I get many emails due to this snare (questions about the condition, shipping options and cost). So here is an update:
-The snare drum is fully functional, it has original snare frame from Rogers, shell is in good condition, three small holes are open (probably from the original muffler). Otherwise everything normal as shown!
The snare drum has a great sound especially for jazz/funk style.
-new photos are attached
-Shipping in Germany possible
-even pick up in Nuremberg
-Please bank transfer or cash payment, I have no PayPal.
-private sale, no warranty or return
-Price is open bidding: I would wait until weekend of 11/19 for your total cost. The highest price gets it then. I just want the instrument to land in good hands. I am a musician :)The snare drum is looking forward to a new owner!

If prices drop through the floor.... I am buying. Honestly, I think the notion the new Dyna-Sonic is going to cause the old Dyna-Sonic to be worthless... is just .... lets say senseless. Any other word might be construed to be offensive.

Just a thought about new snare pricing vs vintage snare pricing.

But if they start making that 64 again with all the same parts?
Apples to oranges.
It looks as if the snare frame was cut. One one end the extensions that rest on the bottom hoop seats appears to be missing. Could be just the way I'm viewing the pictures. Other than that, it appears to be the real deal and a good deal.

There will always, I repeat, ALWAYS, be players / collectors who want nothing of the new. Unless maybe that they want a simulacrum to play in clubs; and which won't be as painful getting stolen while being parked behind the scenes.
The 2017 ain't gonna be no '64. Uh-uh. A little dip, I think temporarily, will dampen vintage Dyna sales. But the funny thing is I haven't seen so many Dynas as there used to be ... or Club Date + Downbeat kits. I think owners are sitting things out; or folks are hoarding???
Let's not confuse other factors denting vintage prices. We've seen Supras + Jazz Fests dip quite a bit in the last few years, I think because of ubiquity. And drummers are CHEAP! And the mkt has that ebb and flow that all mkts tend to be ruled by.
