Recently inspired by grantro's stainless steel monster kit I decided to put together my Ludwig monster rocker set tonight. Have not played it yet, wife was in bed by the time I got it together. These are pretty good drums, I like the rocker lugs they have vintage vibe to them. Obviously I need to get some new drum heads and figure out where to place my hihats. And, I will try and get some better pics, these came from my cheep phone.

So, anyone else have a monster kit to show off?

Awesome set, Jeff!! It definitely takes some tweaking to get everything where it needs to be...I`m still doing that with my set!!

If you can, try moving your smallest toms above the hi hats so that those drums are closer to the other toms...It may help with hi hat placement...

Cheers

I`ll post mine here too if you don`t mind!! The set is so big I can`t seem to fit it in one pic...I don`t have enough room in the space that it`s in...These are a lot of fun to play though!!

Here`s the "deets" on the set:

Rod, I still cant get over those huge concert toms. And that stainless steel is awesome!

I found pics of my set from a few years ago and I did have the small toms raised over the hi hat like you suggested. I need to cut down the center rod on the hi hat, it sticks way up.

Thank you!

I just center the hi hat rod between the 2 toms and adjust the tom stand height as well...That way, it`s out of striking range if you know what I mean...

I really like your set-up, Jeff!! I like the double bass drums...I would like to find another 22 for my set someday...

Cheers

Im sure there is a 22" bass drum some where out there.

Thank you! This was the first set of drums I restored and veneered. They were accumulated from all over the country. The 12 and 13 were power toms that I cut down a little, but did a so so job. Over the next few weeks I hope to get the heads in order. Pretty darn fun to play around on.

So, no one else has a big kit? Cmon, lets see them please!

Thank you!

Nice sets

How many drums does it take to make a monster or to be called a monster kit?

I have a Octo plus plus vistalite set. I have to see if I have a picture of it set up.

One of these days will set it up again.

But here is one for you, also a rocker from 88 with 4ply shells, sound great. Use these for a Rush tribute band

Mine is a 9-piece Gretsch kit that I patched together by hunting down the various size drums with matching wrap. I had a similar kit in HS that was a Gretsch set in Blue Sparkle.

I don't get to set it up and play it as much as I would like but when I do all of my neighbors know it !

Drumr69, I think you qualify for a monster kit. Very nice looking set, must be a challenge for you to play in a Rush tribute band, I know I couldn't even think about it.

CTMichaelV, Those Gretsch drums look fantastic, love the wrap!
