My dad used to tell a story about getting these drums. He went to the factory and selected the shells himself. They were supposed to get wrapped, but he asked that they keep them natural and just get a clear coat. That's why they are white on the inside. Later my dad stained them walnut. And then even later he wrapped two of them in a wood veneer ( I have no idea why). I removed the veneer off of the two drums and then sanded them to remove the glue. I still need to sand the bass.
Sizes -
20 inch bass drum.
13 inch tom
16 inch floor tom
14 inch snare drum
I think he originally had Rogers hardware for the tom mount (I have the arm on this). At some point, he abandoned that and used a Ludwig tom mount (huge hole), which I still have.
Should I replace the Ludwig mount with a Camco one or use a Rogers one? I have someone who can repair the holes either way. He's the real deal.
I think I am going to do these with an ebony stain.
I'd appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks in advance,
Walt
