No throw whatsoever.

There's the screw that you see that tightens straight to the butt plate, which does not attach anywhere. The butt plate simply sits above the ring of the bottom head and is held in by tension alone.

That`s all news to me. I`ve never even heard of that or seen it talked about here.

Let me look around some more, more looking the better.

The straight screw is common, the static hold I`ve never heard of yet.

I am still trying to get an ID on this thing. Very curious to see what it is.

Also, still have no idea what to do with it, keep it as a museum piece, clean it up, use it, modernize it (Gasp, but doing a little drilling).

DON'T "MODERNIZE" IT!!!!! It's an absolutely beautiful snare, and properly set up, would serve as well as any modern piccolo snare. I can see that being great for brush work or even orchestral work. I wouldn't even clean it or polish it. It just exudes a perfect vintage vibe as-is.

If you don't think you're going to use it, post it here on the VDF "For Sale" section. You'll get a nice price for it, but again, ONLY if you don't modify it in any way.

Thank you! I won't touch it. I am going to maybe put a Remo Skyntone head on it and see how it sounds.

IDK who thought putting an emperor would be a good idea, but wow does this improve the ascetics and sound!

I actually brought it to an acoustic practice the other day! My band rates were a little weary at first, but damn did it sound good with rutes/brushes.

I am currently using it as my main drum for brushes, given the 15" size.

And no judging the other equipment in the photos! That's my practice setup that prevents me from Hauling gear in and out of my car/garage/house. That 16" Pulse BD does the job.

.....still waiting on an ID. Any help or hints would be appreciated. Also, a value would be cool too, I don't want to sell it, but that could change at some point.

Sweet indeed! I just love that. So it's what... 15x3" 15x2"? I wish someone here could identify the manufacturer, because I'm curious too.

As to value, you just have to find what something similar sold for recently (and good luck with that!:)) You really have something unusual there, and it's nice to see you're putting it to good use.

It`s gonna come back as Duplex or SONOR. Both used red Copper and screw adjustment tension snares. Because there is no triangle stamped into the shell I lean towards Duplex.

They did the hoop t-rod attaching and fancy thumb nuts on single tension snares. Both made them in piccalo sizes too. That leg brace screems SONOR.

I found a similar Duplex that makes me think Duplex. I`ll try and find that SONOR marching leg piece too.

Look at the strainer on this duplex.

I`ve learned that if it`s a fancy Copper snare, and it`s not a SONOR,...it ends up being a Duplex.
