It's a 60's-70's Japanese mount....it took the Japanese hex rods.....

....hmmm...that's a toughie if you wanna bring 'em back to Slingy system and you aren't re-wrapping.....because the holes for that mount wouldn't be easily cover-up-able......

My thoughts too. Oh and I'm in the same boat, sort of. I have a 60s Slingerland someone stuck a Pearl mount on. The tom would be an easy cover, as they drilled the mount underneath where the plate for the clip mount would be. The bass, not so good though. I'll probably just keep the mount on there as it's missing the rail consolete anyway and the Pearl stuff is a little more robust. Still, breaks my heart that this set is otherwise very, very nice and someone had to go and put that thing on there. (And they either put it on the wrong side or they were playing the bass drum backwards. If you have it set up correctly, the mount is nearest the batter rather than the resonant. At least the holes are clean.)

I'm leaning towards keeping it there, re-wrap or not. Perhaps find a couple of arms and mount woodblock and cowbell and/ or a cocktail cymbal arm, and just call it what it is... a poorly contrived mod. Not my fault, and sorry about that, did the best I could with the situation and be done with it....

Thanks everyone... if I wind up looking for hardware to stick in there, I'll give a shout... doubt I'll find anything contemporary that would work.

deadhead, would you have those pics, they may help, and I may be interested in a purchase if the tom arm is available....

Thanks, All!!!

Well, if you rewrapped, I'd seriously consider removing that mount, then.....correct a very poor "remuddle".....

Rob...yeah, the "classic" '70's-80's tom mount...um..."upgrade".

If I had a nickel for each Pearl tube arm mount I saw slammed onto a nice old shell...I'd be sitting on a beach somewhere by now.....

I would love to, but it is six holes, two the size of a dime, plus the four screws.

Would repairing that many holes be the better way to go?

I'm game for doing what's best, whatever that might be...

Here are some pics of what I removed from a 70s Royce kit last week.
