Porto Throne Part 2, A Hidden Surprise!!

Loading...

My Ludwig Porto throne arrived today and it is in excellent shape! Just needs some T.L.C. That's fine. I really enjoy the restoration process. The rubber leg tips were white, ugly, dirty and obviously not original That's no problem. When I removed the leg tip from the main tube, a sixty year old stash of weed popped out (with the help of some tweezers). It was almost like dust it was so old! I had to admire the owners creativity! I was certainly surprised to say the least. Ingenious!

A few years ago, I bought a vintage Christmas display item from a thrift store. It was from the 60's and was a plastic angel that had a push in style bulb/holder. I took the holder out to make sure all the electrical was in good shape. Inside was a baggy full of white powder. It wasn't snow!! lol.

Congratulations on restoring your Ludwig Porto throne... lucky find! :D Speaking of drum thrones, I had to sell my kit about a year ago and just bought a new one. The only thing I need now is a good, dependable throne. The last one I had was a Yamaha, but it was a one of the cheaper models and I need something sturdier; I'm over 6' and weigh about 225. I'd like the top of the seat to be about 23" off the floor. Gear is about 30-50% higher down here, so my budget would be around US$65; any suggestions?

You guys are the best! You responded like true musicians! Hey, John, I couldn't smoke the stuff. It would be like inhaling the dandruff from a syphilitic old camel! I doubt if even my bass player would touch the stuff!
