I've never heard of anyone REMOVING bearing edges on a kit like that!!! That's amazing.Pics please!!!!

The bearing edge thing was a two edge sword.

Glen used to make them almost razor sharp, but after a while of tensioning ,the bearing edges would collapse.

His drums were not so great.

2nd tier imports.

I seem to recall that Emrald had models that were Asian copies of Sonor Signature / Phonic drums.

This thread is a blast from the past! I purchased a set of ROC drums from Glen Qwan (of Badass Bridge guitar fame) in 1989. Saw the ad in MD and actually visited his warehouse facility in SF on my way to the Philippines. Very nice guy... shipped my five piece to Clark Air Base and I played it in an Air Force rock band. Unfortunately, in 1991 the Mt. Pinatubo eruption trashed my kit with water/ash. We closed the air base and I moved to LA where my insurance company purchased a new top of the line Gretsch six piece kit for me. The ROC quality was ok, but remember the old adage, "you get what you pay for..."

Hi OldDrummer55...and Welcome to the forum! Really too bad about how you lost your R.O.C. drums. I wonder how many of those kits were sold. They were advertised in Modern Drummer for a few years at best. Any pictures of your kit?
