Too funny...I picked up a Broadway version of this snare yesterday, pretty rare...at least around here. I'm 99% sure yours is a John Grey Autocrat 'Metasonic'. Brass, including the die cast hoops, mine are as well. VERY cool drum, imo. You looking to flip it, or keep&play?

Cheers.

Hi Trilok.....Your snare drum looks very nice. Obviously the only difference is the strainer system. So the autocrat and broadway are mid 60's snare drums. Once i get the snare ill give it the once over. It will be going for sale along with the ER Rogers and the Carlton. Ill play them then sell on. Thanks for the info and interest.

Yup; same shell, same lugs, same hoops, same slotted tension rods...but yes, different strainer system, and two more lugs. It's sad that John Grey's don't sell for more money...that being said, I'm more then happy to get a vintage 60's COB MIE drum for $60 bucks.

Cheers.

Just had a look through the catalogues and as you said the broadway is 6 lugs and autocrat 8 lugs. Does the broadway have a damper. The autocrat i bought doesnt have the correct wires fitted. The wires should be longer. Probably still sounds decent but ill make a set to fit. Trilok your snare drum was at a great price, you did well. Ive done really well this weekend on a spending spree with 3 MIE snare drums at very low prices.

Correct, Broadway's did not come with a muffler. As far as the wires go, I wonder if ones that fit Premier 2000's would work...if not, finding wires that would work could be a nightmare, from what I've heard...getting good wires for the 2000 is a pain, as it is.

Cheers.

Hi Trilok....Over here in the UK 2000 wires are easy to get. Obviously the 2x12's are hard to find. There is a store in the UK that sells them on complete 24 strand with premier end plates for £12GBP. I will use a set of these as they go over the snare drum then make new plates to fit the autocrat. Done this on a few snare drums resoldering premier wires to new plates even royal ace snare drums. www.themarchingbandshop.co.uk. The wires are the 0655M. Under drum components and parts.......sean
