Looking to identify my Rogers Kit.

Loading...

Hello there fellow drummers!

So a while back I got my hands on a Rogers drumkit from someone who didn't know much about it. I know it's not a half-assed kit so I'm wondering what it actually is and what it might be worth. (I sadly have to sell it off quite soon as I'm leaving for a year).

So any idea what this set is? .. There are a bunch of serial numbers on the logo if that helps.

Tom 1 Only Logo

Tom 2 605919

Tom 3 601905

Floor Tom 601425

Base drum 601933

The snare seems to be a ludwig acolyte 14x5.5 if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks a bunch!

It`s like a mid 80`s Lodonair or something.

I think the two rides and the snare are worth more than everything else.

I`ve been wrong a lot on Rogers stuff though. But the big R and the mounts are a clue to me.

The snare looks like a 6 1/2, and it looks like it has imperial type lugs, whereas the acrolite has bowtie lugs. The shell does look more like an acro shell than a supra, though.

If you could post more pics it would be helpful.

Good catch.

Here`s what I`ve heard and seen on those.

It`s a 1978 NYC Schools drum, only 100 were made, I`ve seen one go for $1,100 on a drum shop site I can`t remember.

This is a 1966 BD (board) ED (education) NYC school drum I saved from this site a while back, the seller asked $2,500 and I think it sold. It too is a 14 x 6 1/2 like the one above.

Notice the keystone badge and baseball bat muffler.

Look inside the snare drum to see if it`s tagged.

I believe the drums have been refinished. Not sure... but they are from 1976 and this was not an offered finish that year. There were only a couple of sets existing at that time that were natural, those belonged to endorsers doing trial testing. Late 78 into 79 lacquer finishes were being offered in five ply drums. 1979... XP 8 era, there were cataloged lacquer finishes.

It bears some resemblance to this one from the '76-'77 catalog that can be seen on the link to the Vintage Drum Guide in the upper right had corner of this website.

Also, the snare looks like it has 10 lugs, not 8....
