That's going to be a tough find! The only 18 x 12 shells I ever heard of are bass drum shells, not tom shells. Would be a custom drum if it was a tom. Best of luck with your hunt.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

if you can find a 18"x16" floor tom, it would be easy to cut it down to 12" and replace the re-ring, but someone might shoot you for destroying a 18" drum

Last week there was a guy selling 18x12 Ludwig B/O concert tom for 100$ on ebay but it was already sold when I decided to buy it few hours later :/ Actualy my plan was to find something like it and make myself a bass drum, because Jazzette ones are too expensive for me at this moment... And I like to do project drums :) I was thinking about buying and cuting down 18x16 but that would really be a pitty.

I have a nice set of 18" hoops if you need them.

Ludwig used that same 18x12 shell for their marching tenor or tri-toms....

I played Ludwig tri-toms (12-13-14") in the UConn Marching Band in 1977, and the guy next to me in the line played a 14-16-18" setup, so that 18x12 concert tom shell was common. It's probably much easier to find the Ludwig 18x12 shell in the marching concert tom configuration than finding one of those rare 18x12 basses. Shouldn't be too tough converting the concert tom to a double headed bass.
