I have been looking for some information relating to a D-18 kit on and off for literally years and again more so lately.

I am fascinated by your thread since information is so hard to come by, I only came across it by the picture you posted on this forum, which I occasionally view, and have now joined so that I can participate.

As you will know there are Y badge D-20 and D-22 kits on the internet but even so not really that much about Y badge kits compared to others.

I too feel blessed in that I have unbelievably just managed to find an 18/12/14/14 snare kit here in the UK, and like yourself am in the process of cleaning up what is essentially a sound, unmolested kit.

I have now found a matching snare too (besides the steel one I already own) working out pricing with the seller.

As I occupied a new job and the condition is quite neat, I have left the restauration on the shelf.

I did found a extra set of 12x8, 13x9 and a 22x14 (badly damagad with a crack going allround through the shell, so that one wil be a parts only orphan) in Black Willow.

Oh man. I had a line yesterday on a mint SDM5, on CL, guy only wanted $50 for snare and stand. I would have just sold the snare stand, snare would have been maybe $20 in the end...another guy beat me to it :(

My snare (i'm not sure if its a SD-5 because of the flip strainer. The SD-5's had a regular strainer and adjustable butt right?)

Kit and snare are cleaning up pretty well. Musiqman, If you could please send me the approximate spacing of your reso' head logo I would very much appreciate it and I can then get the one I have now received attached and some photographs taken and put up on the forum.

I have a choice of two logo styles, the one like yours which I guess would be technically correct or the very early one with the joined up characters, which I personally slightly prefer as it is more distinctive. I have put one of these (position guessed at!) on a C220 kit which I also have and IMHO it looks good.

I believe some of the very early badges which were attached to the drum shells had the joined up character writing on them. Not the case on my kits so again, for the sake of authenticity your logo style would be the correct one for my drums?

Anyones opinions on a preference would be interesting!
