The hihats and swish might be good, who knows about that first one(?).

He says the cymbals are "older". I'd say that's true in the same sense that my 8 year old dog is "older".

The hihats may be "older" but the others aren't. You can't judge a cymbal by it's looks, you can get a vibe, but I've heard no name junk I liked and most cymbals in music stores I don't.

All those cymbals could be sold for much more than what they're asking (assuming no major defects) so they might be scores.

He is a asking $60.00 a piece so I think I will call him and offer $100 for all three if they are still avaliable.

If he's asking $180 a $100 offer is quite a chunk off. If you offered $120 it would be asking him to throw in one for free. Even at $180 the prices are low so anything you get off of that is a bonus. I wouldn't blow the deal on the price. The swish and the hihats could very well be real nice. The ride looks like a heavy metal cymbal, but who knows it might be the cat's moo!

The fact that the seller says they're "rare" says something 'casue I don't think they are. The ride might be and there might be a good reason they don't make it anymore.

That "star" cymbal isn't rare. It's a made overseas cheap cymbal.

Yes, those would have been a great deal 30 years ago when gas was $1 let alone today.

I currently play a pair of modern 14" New Beats but I am on a vintage kick do to the fact that I just purchased a 1971 Ludwig Maple Classic 14x24, 16x18, 16x16, 10x14 and 9x13. I wasn't sure if the New Beats (on craigslist) were vintage or not and if they have a more vintage sound. I like the cymbals I have and have been using them for a very long time but I am at a point were I want to start experimenting with other cymbal sounds and figured at these low prices I just might find something I fancy more than what I currently use.

I'm not sure what a "vintage" AZ sound is. To me the AZ sound has never changed, except that every cymbal is different. I've always thought the metal was the same except for their cheap stuff. I would have thought you could take a new pair of hihats and time travelled back to the 60's and no one would think twice about them.

I'd buy them if I was near there.

...just sayin'. In the current economy, they sell, used, for about $100-110. There ARE some duds, though. Either the matching of cymbals sounds bad, or they're WAY too heavy. In either case, you could get your money back, and then some...

[COLOR="DarkRed"]I don't think the "star" cymbal is a cheap import. I believe that the very first Z Customs had that star-hammering on 'em. That's what it looks like to me.....an early Z Custom. Look at the cymbal shape, bell size, etc....

So, the seller was kinda on the right track with that one.

Z Customs... Yipes !!! I have zero use for such monsters, but heavy rockers luv 'em....guitar2...and $60 is cheaper than the $100-120 they go for on eFlay....
