This Walberg & Auge drum set is made from Rogers and Gretsch components as well as some parts made by Walberg & Auge for their own drums. The Rogers Powertone chrome snare goes well with the other three drums. The drums left the factory wrapped in Salmon Satin Flame. After much deliberation, I decided to re-wrap them in a custom Duco simulation made to my specs by Bum Wraps. I may get another piece of matching wrap for an old Rogers wood shell snare drum in my projects pile.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Here's my mid 60's Dayton steel gray ripple. Found the 20"kick, 12" rack and 14" floor in a long gone vintage drum shop in NYC back in '96 for next to nothing. It was on consignment, the seller was the original owner and didn't play it much and never took it out, it was virtually factory fresh.I won the 16" Dayton floor about 6 years ago on ebay after a vicious bidding war that came down to the last second and about $20. This thing cost almost 2x more than the rest of my Rogers shells! Well worth it, I had been dying to get a matching floor for years! I switched out the original tom mount for a rims mount off a cymbal stand but I still have all the original stands and mounts safely stored. I LOVE THIS KIT!

Just say this. Beautiful set and a great story on the purchase, especially of the original set for "next to nothing." We always like that!

That finish is just fantastic. Thanks for posting. Unusual to see a beavertail kit with that finish. A real prize you have there.

I had kind of forgotten about this thread. Here's one I picked up this spring. 1964 Headliner in the 20, 12, 14 configuration with a matching PowerTone from 65 or so.

Ya! ... so I'll contribute too! These are my 1965 Rogers Buddy Rich Celebrity's with a 1967 WMP Dynasonic. Gig these a LOT! They play/sound incredible!

Totally beautiful Tommy. As classic as it gets. I don't know how you can bear to closet those even for the sake of using the new COF ones you have. Got a favorite out of those two yet?

THANKS Dan!, and ...

... that is a great question actually! Truth be told, both the mid 60's Rogers and the mid 60's Fibes COF are beautiful sounding sets! They each have a slightly different "voice" given the wood vs. fiberglass make up of course, and as such I LOVE them both! Neither has ever failed to deliver! I played the '65 Rogers Buddy Rich Celebrity's for close to 10 years straight with nary a complaint ... but as of late I've been in a fiberglass state of mind. The Fibes COF are every bit as good sounding as the Rogers in their own voice .. and .. I've really been digging the projection of those drums too. Incredibly dynamic would be a nice way to put it. To answer your question though ... BOTH are favorites! :) Really comes down to how I'm feeling: Wood ... or fiberglass! Both have great appeal, and both seem to instill comment/conversation at whatever venue I might be playing!
