Refund on ebay question

Hi to all. want to ask a question about refund and see if someone of you have simillar experience

Guy from Spain has interest for cymbal on ebay. I told him to check Spanish custom and tax laws about fees because I am from Serbia and Serbia is not member of European Union

He bought cymbal, and when it arrived at customs, they gave him higher value of fees than he expected. Now he want return and he he requested it on ebay.Return as he will never pick it up to return, he just don't want to accept cymbal from customs and it will probably be sent to me back

Since my items for sale are with shipping included, I paid shipping to Spain and I also don't know if they will make any requests in money for shipping it back to Serbia, what you think how should I replay to ebay return request, send to me?

Thank you and best regards

Dule

Hi Dule!

Wow! That is a really difficult one to figure out. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you. Is it possible to send a message to eBay about this? That might be the first way to deal with this situation. Good luck.

I was involved in a similar situation a few years ago. The buyer refused to accept the item and eBay sided with the seller. Seller did NOT have to refund any money. Their current policy may be different. Follow idrum4fun's advice and contact the eBay Resolution Center. They should be able to help you. You may want to open a "buyer will not accept item" case. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Duties, taxes and fees for crossing International borders. If it wasn't stated in the sale that the buyer is responsible for them, then I don't think eBay will help. One huge reason I wont ship Internationally.

A very good point. This may be a lesson learned. I hope Dule will let us know the outcome.

Thank you for help guys!

I manage to contact ebay on resolution center, with only option report buyer, which actually I don't want to report as accusation, just to solve problem

I did not stated in auction that buyer is responsible for duties and taxes, but never had issue until now

When I contacted buyer a few months ago, I let him know about taxes and he checked with Spanish custom and tax services, and he bought cymbal. But, according to him, when cymbal arrived, they let him much higher value than they told him, so he he wants to cancel all

I told him, if is it ok with him, to let shipment come back to me, and after I receive it, I can send him money back minus shipping from Serbia to Spain, that I payed and eventually costs from Spain to Serbia

Didn't get his replay yet

It appears the buyer knew he was responsible for duties, taxes and fees. The buyer may have undervalued the item when he initially spoke to Spanish customs and tax service or they may have overvalued it once they saw it, either way your offer to the buyer seems fair. Please let us know the final outcome.

Hello and thank you again with your help

Ebay informed me and the buyer that his request is denied, because he had all relevant informations

What suprised me is that price of cymbal in his country is 168EUR +6EUR for local shipping, and he decided to buy from ebay for 156 EUR, knowing that some amount of taxes will be charged from Spain custom and tax laws

BTW if you are intersted in some Turkish made cymbals, here is link to my ebay page
