Ajax Kit: Opinions?

I found this very cool looking Ajax set on Ebay recently and went back and forth with the seller. I proposed to buy the bass, rack tom and smaller floor tom, which has a lot of discoloration on it. He's looking for about 570 pounds, which converts out to over $700 USD, which I think is too much, considering the issue with the floor tom, the heavy duty spurs that will have to be installed, and new heads all around. He doesn't want to budge on the price. I love the way they look, but is his price fair for these drums? Ajax experts?

Dont touch that for that price. He is always selling kits well over price. I wouldnt mind if they were decent. Ive found two other ajax kits on ebay UK from great sellers who sell quality. One of these kits is £450 ono the other has a start of £250. I know for a fact these two kits are a great buy. Here are the ebay item numbers.

192249639331...worldwide shipping bass drum top tom floor tom snare drum cymbal cowbell

391840102186....Global shipping program bass drum top tom 2 floor tom

Here are the pics of the kits...The one with two floor toms is the one for £450 ono.

Also on another note i have an early 60's premier 52 kit in blue pearl finish for sale not yet on ebay. Great nik its 20x14 12x8 and a premier 2000 70's chrome snare drum. No floor tom. I can sort a price out for the premier if interested plus i can put some 60's flush base hardware with it. Thx sean...ps The ajax kits are not mine they are from reputable ebay sellers who love drums and sell good quality.

I can't really comment on the price, but soundwise these kits are great. I have an English Rogers which is essentially the same thing, same shells but rebranded. Playing it right now, as I have it in the countryside in a barn for practicing when I'm on vacation.

Tunes up really nice even high up for jazz, I am normally playing a Camco Oaklawn but I like this just as much.

Let me clarify that the seller wants 570 pounds with shipping. He and I have discussed this in depth, and I'm afraid I have to pass, having just invested in a Rogers set.

that finish is quite rare and really stunning. if it's all polished up it will look very special indeed.personally i think the set is a very fair price . the british punter can be somewhat mean and dont want --or expect---to pay for products made in the u.k. ajax drums sound great--a lot of attack but tonally very clean. please note that a sparkle set visually wont do the job in the same way , and the snare on one of those offered is a john grey. with the pound-dollar exchange rate very much in u.s. favour, i'd jump at these.
