Here's an interesting one. 13" Hi Hats with a GMI or CMI stamp. They also have the same red ink stamp as seen on Tosco cymbals. They're basically Tosco cymbals. I have had 14" Tosco Hi Hats and these are exactly the same only they're 13". These cymbals weigh approximately 700g over 750g.I would be interested to know if anyone else has come across these cymbals before.

CMI appears on the UFIP stencil brand list:

That doesn't prove that UFIP manufactured that particular cymbal because it seems from some other cymbal brands on the UFIP list (eg Ajaha, Bellotti, Zanchi) that they may have been manufactured by UFIP in some years and by other Italian foundries in other years. The uncertainty is in part because different individuals moved in and out of the UFIP group over the years. Tosco is but one of several other Italian foundries.
On to the nitty gritty details. See the smudge to the right of the CMI logo on the stencil brands image? Is there a hint of anything on yours? I can't tell if that smudge is just contrast enhancement at work or if there is really something more to the pressed in logo.
Do your 14" Tosco hats have a Tosco pressed in trademark stamp? And do they have that same rectangular stamp giving the diameter in cm and inches?

Thanks as always for weighing in. The stamp on my hi hats doesn't match with the one pictured here. There is nothing to the right of the CMI stamp and it looks like a different logo used. It's very similar though. I have spotted this CMI logo before on the above image, but I have never seen any other example of these cymbals other than the pair of hats that I have. I was wondering what the story was behind these cymbals. Where they distributed with a certain brand of drum set? These Hi Hats are undoubtedly rotocast. I've had a few UFIP cymbals over the years and for me these CMI are very much like TOSCO. The lathing and the overall shape reminds me of some Tosco hi hats I once owned. Cheers as always, Zenstats.

Also have a 14" sizzle cymbal with the same stamp and original rivets. It has a standard hole. Can anyone give me a value on these ? They are in excellent condition, just old.

These cymbals are typically not worth as much as an Avedis Zildjian of same size. I've also had the 12" with pyramid stamp and a pair of 14" pyramid stamp hi hats. I paid 25 Euro for the 12" and about 75 Euro for the 14" hats. I'd recommend keeping them. They're very fine cymbals. Zildjians are more marketable and therefore more expensive, but the UFIPs can be just a nice.
If you so feel like selling the 14" I would be a buyer, but I wouldn't offer much more than 50 USD for it because I can probably eventually find one here in Europe for around that price.

I've noticed the same thing, but auction prices will give a better idea of the value. Smaller bell holes can be an inconvenience especially for crashes and ride cymbals, but with hi hats it's not too bad. Put a cymbal felt on the plastic cup part of the hi hat stand so that it clears the little plastic sleeve part. The bottom hat will rest on the felt. The top hat will work on a number of clutches. Yamaha clutch seems to work for me. The problem with the Yamaha clutch is that it won't fit on some stands. I use an old Premier stand which serves me well for modern and vintage hats. It's not even one of those 60's flat base stands. It's a late 80's stand. Does the job. :)
