Naming our band.

Loading...

Well it finally happened to us, someone quite the band and now we are kicking around new names.

I have a clear resonant bass drum head so was thinking of finding some kind of blocky plasticy letters that can stick to the head and easily be pulled off and reused. This would help use a name for week or 2 and then move on to the next suggestion until we find one that sticks. Any idea of what type letters to use and where to get them?

Thanks

Try this site. They have everything vinyl and prices don't look bad. I stumbled on them looking for cheap alternatives to real drum wrap.

I always thought that, Ferrel Kunts, or The Merkins would be a great name for a band. I would have included The Skidmarks, but some people will think it's a racing reference while others will assume it's a dirty underwear reference. That one is a pick-em.

Too many great drums to list here!

What type of music does the band play?

The name should be somewhat linked to the band's music as it gives the public a better idea.

If you saw a band on the marquee named Grandma's Rocker then you would think maybe country or folk, but then you walk in and find a heavy metal or progressive band it just doesn't fit.

Great suggestions guys!

We are a trio and pretty much stick to the 60's/70's bluesy rock kind of stuff with a few other gems thrown in. As kind of a reference point here are the last few songs we started working on. CSN&Y Woodstock, CCR Green River, Black Sabbath War Pigs (don't know how I'm going to pull this one off!), and some Tragically Hip and Black Keys. Trying to find our sound being down a guitarist and singer.

What I ended up doing was using a dry erase marker to write a name suggestion on the bass drum clear resonant head. We can wipe it off and write a new one till we find our name.

How about "Gunnelletts and Roses"? Kinda catchy. Just kidding around. Hmmm...not that bad though!
