Leedy elite snare drum

Loading...

I am saxmanpete, new member and a vintage sax player/trader...I recently purchased a boatload of Vistalites and some vintage kits and a Rolling Bomber snare and also a Leedy Elite snare that was rotting in a moldy case...the snare has all the gold lacquer worn off all the hardware and most of the copper...the hoops and lugs are down to the brass and i can't get them totally cleaned...the rods have heavy rust on the heads...some of the black is worn off the shell but most of it is still there...Any advice or anyone who does these restorations please let me know...I did manage to straighten the strainer adjuster but can't get the snare wires to lay flat...I used Puresound wires and gut string thru 2 of the small holes and a strap on the other end...Both my sons are drummers and I plan on letting one of them use this...

If I were you, I would PM member Mike Currotto to find all you need and probably resto.

He may see this . either way, he will get you what you want, more than most.

With that out of the way,...Your Black Beauty is wicked awsome !!

You have got to take current pics and after pics and put them here. Lots of them.

Better light on the stick throw strainer, inside, that kinda stuff.

You came to the right place.

Did Leedy also use the name Black Beauty during this era? I thought that was a Ludwig name.

Ludwig has a Black beauty Model.

This is an OG Black Beauty. The term was for these engraved gun meatal snares before Ludwig coined the model.
