Ah yes, leecountymusic. The worst drum "Chop shop" on ebay. They strip complete, working vintage drums and sell all the parts individually, at severely inflated prices.
I got so tired of browsing the "Sets & Kits" category on ebay, only to have 200+ results of their single drums and random hardware pieces come up on that category. "Add This Single Gretsch Snare Shell To Your Drum Set/Kit!" (Translated Description: Add this single Gretsch snare shell to your drum set/kit/tom/snare/bass/cymbal/hi-hat/manipulate/to/the/max/your/search/results/ on a shell that was complete, but we're only selling the shell, however you can find all the other parts listed in 42 separate auctions for 5 times what they should be).
I have complained to ebay numerous times that they are using the wrong category and that they are trying to manipulate search results. It's bad enough to strip complete, working vintage drums down to the shells and part it out, but to try and deliberately list in wrong categories just to get traffic on their items? TOTAL BS!!
Well, I came across two more sellers, that all look exactly like the leecountymusic auctions. One seller is "thedrumpartscounter" and another is "theolddrumshop". These are exactly like leecountymusic auctions, same format, same templates, same manipulative wording etc., right down to the puzzling stock pictures in each auction of: a neon ebay sign, a woman, the planet Earth, and a US Mail truck. Seriously WTF? And, they do not disclose their location in the auction. It's just "The Drum Parts Counter-USA". Wouldn't you want people to know where you are and be proud that you are a local business doing good for your community? Unless of course you're trying to hide something. SHADY!!
Who knows, there might be even more? It's sad to say, but ebay, at least vintage drums stuff-wise, used to be fun to browse and look at. Now, by and large, it's just manipulative, greedy sellers trying to overcharge fellow drummers, just because something is "Vintage" and "Desirable". Sigh. Sad but true.
That's why I love this forum and everyone on this forum. We are fair and honest to each other, and genuinely care not only for vintage drums, but we also care for each other and respect each other for how we all feel about this stuff. When I see crap like that on ebay, it reminds how much I love this forum and the people on here!
