Vintage Hi-hats with foot board over one of the legs

Loading...

"a footboard over one of the legs"... am I missing something here? Honestly, I don't recall any hi hat stands where the footboard is mounted over a leg. How would it even work?!! Can someone post a picture of one, or tell me the make and model that is built this way? Thanks!

I probably didn't describe it very well but here are pictures of what I am trying to describe.

Thanks,

A picture is worth a thousand words! Now I get it! This reminds me of the Slingerland 804 flush-base hi hat stand. The original 804 had 2 legs, with the footboard and "shovel" acting as the 3rd leg. That design wasn't very stable and was soon changed to a 3-leg design plus the footboard and is very stable!

I see why yours is stable and mine isn't. Yours has the little tabs that touch the floor. Mine doesn't, so it flexes as I open and close the hats. In the attached picture, it looks like it touches the floor, but it actually doesn't.

I have been looking for another Olympic hi-hat so I can have one at our jam space but have not been able to track one down. I'm guessing the Premier's from the same era would have the same internals as far as the spring and feel but do not know for sure. Anyone know if they are the same hi-hat stands but with a different foot board and logo and maybe chroming quality? If so, there are more of those around.

Thanks
