Nice kit! It's a higher end D series kit. D20 is 20/12/14 and the D22 is 22/13/16 so it's a cross between the two. The wrap is called blue willow and late 60s/early 70s is about right, although I'm leaning towards the early 70s with that tom mount (the earlier ones were a simpler, more traditional rail attachment I think). Really nice quality drums. There is loads of info on these kits on this forum if you have a search around.

True.

Funny it has the ''C'' series steel hoops. Could be aftermarket hoops.

Lovely drums. Keep on to them. They sound amazing.

Both of the D series kits I've had have had steel bass drum hoops. I suspect it was a case of what was available at the factory

I'd say 69 at the earliest. Early 70's seems right to me. They just started in '67 so there were a lot of minor changes in a fairly short period.

The 20 with the 13&16 is an unusual set up. The D-22 had those toms with the 22" kick. My D-20 is a 20 with a 12&14. That's another reason I think it's a bit later.

I'd make wood hoops for the kick that accept the original inlay strip. I did that for my D-20 although it had wood hoops originally. One was missing so I had Precision Drum Co. make some for me.

they were also cataloged as the YD series. I had a 20 12 12 16 set. I added wood hoops as the original metal ones were in bad shape but the catalog shows the metal hoops

The hoops are on the early YD-5000 and 7000 too. Still great sets (that 5000 was one of my best kicks I owned)
