You don't really need a vent. The three holes were for a muffler/tone control. Looks like a slingerland tone control btw.

Im fiixin to try a few different muffling ideas on this. it sounds like a marching bass drum. Has terrible overtones. I went down to the shop and got a piece of 1" foam, 24" X 60" and a big piece of dacron. Dacron is what we wrap couch cushions out of and make pillows out of it. We have a 60" wide roll of it. Either one should stand up in the drum if I line the inside of the shell.

No the old old ones did not have a badge or a vent.

Well Heck! I got the muffle in the drum. When I got this drum it had no bottom rim or head. I purchased a new rim for it. i installed the top head and tuned and turned it over to tune the bottom head and guess what? The bottom rim is a very nice slingy stick saver rim. That is soooo cool as far as im concerned, but now I have to switch the rims and put the slingy rim on top.

I got the heads on and reversed my pedal. it still has overtones. The top head is a cheapo tko head i had.

Poppy are you using this as a 20" kick? If so, buy and Aquarian Super Kick II for the batter side.

My plan is to make this the bass drum for a cocktail kit
