18" Ludwig SS Floor Tom question

Loading...

I happen to get in a deal today a Ludwig 16x18 (18 diameter) SS 70's B/O badge floor tom. It is in excellent condition, but the bottom edge is badly out of round. By almost 1/2"! Like a drunk guitar player sat on it while it was on it's side, without the bottom rim on it.

I'm thinking it's fixable, but not sure what to do. The shell seems quite flexible but springs back with hand pressure.

This is an $800 drum if it's in round, but what would be the best way to fix it?

It's quite a dilemma. Any help is appreciated.

Sit on it again. But not drunk like the Guitar dude.

Set it on a soft surface and put gentle even pressure on shell and bend it back slowly.

I just listed in the resto part by a conservator!

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

From green glass drum

Sit on it again. But not drunk like the Guitar dude.Set it on a soft surface and put gentle even pressure on shell and bend it back slowly.

Just be careful when doing this or you can kink the bearing edge...

Cheers
