Sinatra at the Sands/The Sounds of Frank

Loading...

Thought I might post this up ... "The Sounds of Frank" are doing a SPECIAL show at the Infinity Music Hall/Hartford, CT this Sunday the 29th of January. It's an afternoon/matinee, show is 1:30 to 3:00PM. We are celebrating 50 years of one of the BEST LIVE albums of all time: Sinatra at the Sands. It was 1966 and Frank Sinatra came out with a brand new show backed by the incredible Count Basie Orchestra. The Sands was sold out and a seat couldn't be bought anywhere! We have put together a NEW show to celebrate this epic performance, including two of his biggest pop hits from 1966: "That's Life" and "Strangers In The Night". Would love to see you if you have any interest! I'll be playing the 1967 Fibes COF Buddy Rich's for this show as well. If you come out, say hello! :) Here's the link for tickets: http://www.infinityhall.com/Events/sounds-of-frank-celebrates-the-50th-anniversary-of-sinatra-at-the-sands-1-29-20/

Wish I could make it! It's a little too far though...

As a side note, I had never heard of "Sinatra at the Sands" (take it easy... I'm only 30) but my interest was piqued with your claim of "one of the BEST LIVE albums of all time" so I added it to my Amazon Prime playlist and have been listening to it all morning. What a great album! There is just something about the musicianship that totally captivates me while listening to it.

So GLAD you are enjoying it! It's just swingin' stuff, and the fact that it's Count Basie's band with the GREAT Sonny Payne on drums doesn't hurt! That was a great period for Count Basie's band, and they did a few more with Sinatra too, and they are all KILLIN'! Frank obviously dug it big time! All that said, making a statement like one of the BEST LIVE albums of all time, is pretty subjective ... but ... it certainly carries some weight in this instance! THANKS for the comments!
