The late&great Cozy Powell used this model as did Phil Rudd (AC/DC),

He's in Paiste profiles 3 which lists&shows both drummers Paiste set ups,

They're discontinued from Paiste,

&Rarely come up on fee/prey bay (Ebay),

I've only seen 2-3 sets in nearly 10yrs!.IF you ever choose&decide to sell them &are able&can etc ship to Australia let me know! :).

The paiste wiki site doesn't even have 15" 2002 rock hats listed. Interesting. You might want to look at those serial numbers to get an idea of what year you are looking at.

You can check for completed sales on eBay to get a rough idea.

The best source from the forums is from member "zenstat" as he keeps an extensive database on Paiste cymbals which includes valuations. If he doesn't respond to the thread in a couple of days, shoot him a PM.

Looks to me like you've got something rare in the 15's.. The 2002 "Rock" series was fairly common at the time, but many don't pop up now.. A friend and forum member drumfx had one for sale a while back, but it was a 14"..

He had his listed at $150 Cdn if i remember correctly.. And yes, they're discontinued. They also sound great and are perfect for any genre of rock you can throw at them, as well as other genres, and will cut through the mix like a hot knife through butter..

I think it's a fair assumption that your hi hats can be sold at a very decent price, within the $180-200 range,

but because they're 15", probably more.. I'd say any vintage Paiste at 15" are pretty rare.. I think i may have one of the rarest, if not THE rarest of them all, a set of Formula 602 Blue Label 15" medium hi hats circa 1981.

According to Paiste collectors, they're the "holy grail" of hi hats !

Here's a link from Reverb.com that had a listing for the same hi hats in 14", just to give you an idea..

If you read the description in the listing from the Hazelshould Website owner, they're always cool and hilarious !

Serial #958768/958769. I purchased them from an 'amateur' drummer. he thought they were 'junk' because they were not Zildjian's.

six digits puts them from 72 to 94

Black ink puts them 72-81 (red ink 82-94.)

First digit in the stamp is the last digit of the year:

1979?

Wanted: Pearl President floor tom in Golden Grain wrap and rack tom in Tiger Eye (root beer) wrap.

And they are sequentially numbered which I believe adds some value to them as well. Very nice find!

Snares: Arai /Mapex / Ludwig / Slingerland / Star / Tama

Your hi hats are from 1979.. The first number on the sequence is usually the last number of the year. For instance, my vintage Paiste 2002 Black label 16" crash is from 1978, because the serial number starts with 8.

However, if it was a recent 2002 crash and it started with an 8, it would be from 2008..
