Hi guys...
what do you think of this little freak of nature...? ;-)
I think I'm going to keep this one because I got it really cheap.
Just until I get my hands on a real King Beat... ;-)

Looks like someone FrankenHeimed a Pearl mech onto a Tama Roller setup
Nothing special, but at least its functional
specifically, a Pearl S-017 Parallel Strainer

Those were God awful mechanisms.
Bulky ,complex and more rattles than a 10 year old Yugo.
Don't have any experience with the Pearl mechanism, but you'll be very happy with a real King Beat snare. Once you figure out the right setup for you, the snare will sound amazing.
Your experience must be way different than mine as they were just as bad as the Pearl and Yamaha super sensitive, finicky and a PITA to adjust.
The Tama Mastercraft was the only decent extended snare mechanism they made.
I have a Mastercraft & King Beat and both sound amazing. Never had any issues with my King Beat.
The couple I played always had an after rattle.
No matter how you adjusted the snares ,it just had that weird where is that sound coming from.
The Mastercraft and the Artstars with the roller glides were easy to set up and a no braner to tune.

Hmm. Honestly never heard that sound with mine. Maybe I'm lucky?
