Van der Glas Marching Snare Drum (from Netherlands)

Loading...

A nice drum. Have had several over the years.

2 common "issues":

- these snares work best with low collar reso heads. If your reso head is stretched over time, the rim will come up. Sometimes, your snare cannot fully be released while they are "blocked" by the rimguard.

- the lugs have hexagonal inserts. The ridge of the inserts isn't that wide. Therefore the inserts are known to be pulled into the lug hole over time under tension. Still functional, but they won't wiggle around in the lug.

Wrap looks like a aftermarket verneer. this is the first time I see this finish. Usually they came with white or pearl wrap.

Pricewise:

Here (in Holland) they can be found for 30 - 50 euro. (not this type of wrap)

And soundwise: this drum will probably sound dry and boxy.

I've had this model so I know.
