18" Amir Ride cymbal as crash?

Loading...

I am looking at a 18" Amir (not amirII) ride cymbal but really need it as a crash. Any experience in how it sounds as a crash?

From the rides I have played, they were pretty bright sounding and fairly thick. I think using this as a crash might hurt your ears, or the dog's ears next door.

Lol....I got the cymbal a few days ago and it actually sounds pretty good when played with the rest of the kit. It's definitely pretty thick compared to a regular crash. Here is a video of me playing it. [ame="https://youtu.be/l1RlASq4IEw"]https://youtu.be/l1RlASq4IEw[/ame]

It's the cymbal next to my hi-hats. For $50 shipped...I'm happy with it :)

Sounds very good. Good job drumming. Must be noted though - that we don't know what exactly we are hearing - how much Amir vs. the original recording. Can you post some footage of your playing with no backing track?

BTW - Just so you know. The 22in Paiste 400 Ride is a completely different animal compared to your 20in Power Ride there. Your 20 is very thick and heavy compared to the 22. I LOVE my 22in 400 Ride. The only complaint is that it is on the quiet side. Great bells.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Here is the cymbal isolated: [ame="https://youtu.be/naereutBHvg"]https://youtu.be/naereutBHvg[/ame] I really was surprised by the Paiste ride....I have heard before that the 22" is a way better sounding cymbal but I'm really happy with the 20" :)
