Krupa Snare Drum

Well, well, WELL! That's not a Japanese stencil drum, after all. Look at that butt assembly! I've never seen that system. The shell is NOT luan! It could be beech. I'll second the guess of it being a UK-made drum because of the possible beech wood and Hayman connection.

Value is difficult to determine. Probably not overly valuable. I would guess somewhere between $100-$200.

Those are some big rerings...I'm just saying. That is a very "well put together" shell. I don't think this was a cheap knockoff, per se. Someone went to a lot of trouble to make this drum correct. It's very well made. The lugs have the look of the later Slingerland with the rerings of the earlier ones. That mechanism screams Slingerland. That's a really cool snare. Really cool. I wouldn't move that thing until I had the full history of it. There's just something interesting about it.

G'day Wayne

Thanks for showing interest in my drum. Where else could I try to discover further information on its origins and realistic value?

From Duncs

G'day DavidNo problems at all using the badge. Inside of drum is attached. Do you have any idea what its value might be.

That really is a sweet looking drum. Looking at the first pics, I'm thinking "champagne sparkle" all the way. But look at the original color under the hoops - it's orange! That wrap faded in a very pleasing way.

The inside of that shell reminds me of 60's Kent - but with rerings added. And the badge has the Kent badge look too. And Kent used that orange sparkle wrap, with similar fading seen today. I wonder if Kent made these as a high-end line and either stopped because of lack of sales or litigation from Slingerland?
