It was his Ludwig thermogloss kit from Let It Be time frame. 1969 rooftop concert was help on the roof of Apple in London. This kit is pretty well documented. Some good pics I think here or DFO from the recent exhibit last year I think it was. I'm sure more will chime in for you with better details!

Jeff first off your bass players wrong, go to youtube they've got tons of videos of the entire show.

Thanks guys, ya you-tube is great huh. I sent him a link to one of the vids. Not trying to be a smart butt, a "I told you so" but he was pretty insistent that the kit was his usual black oyster kit so I had to ask. Our bass player is a great guy, I like him very much, great musician.

Actually the bass player is right in a way. There was nothing special about Ringo's "rooftop" kit. It was available right out of the catalog, just like his 4 previous Black Oyster kits and the Premier kit he had before the Ludwig's. The only thing special about any of Ringo's kits was the fact that they were owned and played by Ringo on some pretty famous records and toured the world with him. :2Cents:

If you're a Beatles fan and a musician, I recommend checking out the book Beatles Gear. All of Ringo's kits are documented as well as the guitars, amps, etc. of the rest of the Beatles. Pretty cool read.

I'll second that. The book goes into great detail on gear purchased year by year. If they don't have the actual instrument available to photograph they find a similar one. A must for beatlographers.
