In regards to finding your Ludwig Blue Strata snare drum, you have a few options. You can also search eBay and Reverb, and also join drumforum.org where you can also post in that Wanted section.

The Ludwig Standard wood-shell snare drums are basically a Jazz Festival, but with different lugs and finishes. Standard series drums have gone up in value, so be prepared to pay for it if/when you find one.

Thank you very much for the response Mark! That's the snare drum alright! Man I just want some of that explosive thick maple sound. Even if its a different color I would not mind in the slightest. I just loved the sound of it and sorrow ensued when it was sold. As far as similar sounding drums you say the Jazz Festivals are close?

The Standard uses the same shell as the Jazz Festival; meaning a thin 3-ply shell with solid maple reinforcing rings.

I just did an eBay search of "ludwig standard snare drum" and found that a Blue Strata just sold on June 28, for only $225.

Just keep looking. Blue Strata was a common color, so there are more out there!

Thanks everyone for the quick replies and helping me find some very awesome drums! This website is a great resource and I am very glad to have found it. Ill be directing more drumming buddies this way in the future and Ill obviously be mingling around as well now that I have started my own collection!
